Irish Sweet Bread

The Irish know better than to put calf pancreas in their sweet bread! I'm sorry. My Grandmother loves passing her cookbooks down to me and I couldn't be more touched every time it happens. She recently gave me The New York Times Cook Book (from 1961) by Craig Claiborne. I immediately began perusing. I came across this simple recipe and it just so happened we were out of bread at the house! Makes a great breakfast- toasted with some butter. Heaven

I adapted it slightly, didn't use the currants because I was out of them, so I doubled up on the raisins instead. I also halved the recipe, making only one loaf.
